Washington, DC metro area (including Baltimore)

• Pros in the City-DC:  Hundreds of events each year from speed dating to wine-tasting.  There are varied activities that are broken down by age groups : 21 to 29, 25 to 45 and 35 plus.  70% of the attendees are single.  (There is a separate group for Baltimore.)  www.prosinthecity.com.

• Euronet International:  Euronet International events that attract professionals from their late 20’s to late 50’s.  Events are held in the evening that have lots of music and are fun.  Reasonable admission price of $10.  They also hold events in Paris! www.euronetinternational.com

• Bike and Brunch: A mostly single Jewish bicycling group from late 20’s to late 50’s age range.  (Concentrated in mid 30’s to mid 40’s.)  Weekly rides on Sundays with lunch afterwards.  Fall and Spring weekend trips to different areas within a 4 hour drive of DC.  Monthly happy hours and an annual party in January.   Several marriages have occurred from this group including my own!  www.bikeandbrunch.com

• Face to Face Singles: Founder Jane Weissman sets up parties with hors d'oeuvres and dancing to music with a DJ every five to eight weeks on Sunday evenings at Tragara's restaurant in Bethesda, Maryland. An upscale crowd with most participants are 35 to 55 years old. I do know someone who met her husband at a dance. www.face2facesingles.com

• Maryland Upscale Singles: Focus has been on the Baltimore-Annapolis areas 35 year old  plus with singles dances, cocktail parties, beach parties and cooking classes.  Possible expansion into Montgomery County Maryland.  www.mdupscalesingles.com   

• Frederick Singles:  Sunday Dances that draws a wide range of people from Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.  Dances can draw 200 people or more.  Also offers singles trips.  www.fredericksingles.org

• New Beginnings: A support group for newly separated and divorced men and women with discussions, guest speakers and socials.  New Beginnings provides a  safe environment with many nice and helpful people. www.newbeginningsusa.org

• Run/Walk/Eat/Volunteer Club of Baltimore:  Both for serious runners and not so serious runners, as well as, hikes, ultimate Frisbee, volunteer projects and more.  www.baltimorerunning.com

• District of Columbia JCC:  Downtown Washington, DC. Various events for singles including seminars and dinner groups.  www.dcjcc.org 

• Learning Escapes for Singles:  Participant hike, sail, canoe, kayak, golf, barbecue, and socialize.  Most singles in the over 35 group are in their 40’s and 50’s.  www.learningescapes.com

• Single Volunteers of DC:  Singles do community service projects including cleaning up rivers, preparing food for the homeless, and putting down mulch at the National Zoo.  There are socials, as well.  Most members are in their 30’s and 40’s.  Some events are divided into under 35 and over 35. www.singlevolunteers.org/dc.

• Ski Club of Washington, DC:  This 65 year old institution sponsors ski trips in the winter and a ton of events in the summer months: tennis, hiking, kayaking, dance lessons, and much, much more.  Most singles range from mid-30’s to 60’s.  I found this to be a group of fun people who like to party. I went on several ski trips, played tennis took dance lessons and went to concerts at Wolftrap with this group.  www.scwdc.org.

• WESingles: A branch of the Washington’s Ethical Society, a humanistic community, this group meets on Sundays for seminars.  The range of ages are 40’s and 50’s.  www.ethicalsociety.org.

• Things to do DC:  A full calendar of events targeted for the young professionals of DC.  There is a separate 40 plus email list. Events range from cultural activities, formal galas to walking tours, lectures and dances. www.thingstododc.com

• Successfully Single: Meetings held every Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Springfield, VA. Varied topics of interest for singles. Mostly 40 years and over. Contact Sheri Sadowski at 703-569-9862.

• Dinner at 8: Dinner at 8 is a fun, unique dating concept in the DC/Baltimore area. The service selects a compatible mix of people matched by age, interests and background.
